“Southern Change Gonna Come at Last”

It’s disturbing to hear of hostile, aggressive white supremacist/nazi groups disrupting ethnic festivals here in Knoxville.  They must feel empowered by having an anti-immigrant, racist president.  But it’s gratifying to know there are just as many if not more progressive Dems working hard to expose and resist these disgusting hate groups, and getting out the vote against such regression.  Maybe there’s hope for the south yet.

But enough on that.  Here is the beginning of E’s latest home improvement project, turning the dilapidated deck into a sunroom.

And here is faucet-kitty, lapping it up.  She does this every chance she gets.  It’s hilarious.

Flowers are still blooming, including a few new ones.

Rebuilding

I haven’t posted in like three days, so I guess that means I was busy doing actual things, for once!  Saturday we began a project with my son, cleaning up his yard and fixing up his house.  Avdi and I got a lot done weed-wacking, trimming, and picking up debris, while he and E made a list of repairs and supplies.  I also got to dig up some tree saplings for our yard, for which I’m very grateful.  There is an interesting diversity of plant life growing in his forest.

We really needed to chill with beers after that, so Avdi took us to a few of his favorite hangouts in Maryville–Brackins for beer and food, Tri Hop for more craft beers, and Vienna for coffees on the pleasant patio overlooking the Greenway stream.

Then we took a walk along the historic Greenway as the sun was starting to descend.  It was a beautiful evening, after a productive day.
